Best gym in Wigan. I've been a member of several in the area, however, I do feel that this place strikes the best balance for equipment/quality/atmosphere/price. . There are always plenty of machines available and the range of space on offer to carry out floor work is by far the best around. . The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly and approachable if you need them. . The sauna is a great addition and handy when you need a detox.

Too busy in the evening, people sat on machines on their phones or chatting in groups. It's okay to say come when it's not busy, that isn't an option with a child to get on a bus early morning and then working full time. One night the same group was sat on one of leg extension machines I was waiting to use for at least 30 mins (I left so don't know how much longer they sat there, you shouldn't be having to ask people to move, it's just manners) chatting to one of JD's own PTs (should know better). People also leave weights on bars and machinery and don't put them back, 170kg left on a bar, it was still on the bar when I left, so I wasn't the only one who couldn't get the weights off. There should be LARGE notices about not using machines for a sit down while you text your mates or have a chat, and about putting weights back /removing them from machines after using them. I'm aware people use apps for training plans, I use one myself, but there's a difference between using an app and chatting. Equipment is generally good and well maintained when you get to use it, and changing rooms are clean and tidy. Would be better if there were more of the more popular machines

Too many people in the gym waiting to use equipment. JD must not have a cap on membership numbers. ? Time wasters sat on equipment playing on their phone,this is frustrating if you are Time limited. I am currently looking for an alternative where staff/management care about all members not just those paying extra for classes or a PT session.
